Bite China is made by a small team, and it is free to use. No ads, no subscription, nothing held back behind a paywall — which is deliberate, because the people who most need a menu translated shouldn't be the ones locked out.
That only works if some of the people who can chip in, do.
Where it goes
What your money actually pays for
Every scan costs something — character recognition, translation lookups, and the storage behind them. Support pays that bill, which is what lets the app stay free rather than metered.
Dish names, ingredients and allergen flags get reviewed by people who actually speak the language before they reach the app. That's slow, human work, and it's the part that makes the difference.
The things people keep asking for: offline mode, more cuisines, and handwritten menus — which are still genuinely hard.

What this is, and what it isn't
This isn't a charity donation.
Bite China is made by Menu Mate China Ltd, a UK company. This is voluntary support for a piece of software, not a charitable gift. It isn't tax-deductible and there's no Gift Aid.
You don't get anything for it.
No early access, no supporter badge, no unlocked features. Everyone uses the same app. Keeping it that way is the point.
